At Bishop-Wisecarver, we LOVE celebrating MFGDay! Our team looks forward to it each year and spends months planning new ways to showcase what we do as a motion solutions provider, as well as the opportunities of a manufacturing career. This year was one of our largest events to date. So large in fact, that we ended up hosting two days of events at our facility to accommodate everyone interested and ensure they received a personalized, meaningful experience.
More than 160+ high school and college students, FIRST robotics team members, local business owners and community members, and Lenny Mendonca, Chief Economic and Business Advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), came to our Pittsburg site. Company president, Pamela Kan, gave welcoming talks and participated in tours and discussions during both days.
All participants were able to tour three sections of the Bishop-Wisecarver facility, complete a hands-on engineering project utilizing LEGOs and racetracks, visit a tradeshow booth set up with information and employees available to talk about their various roles in manufacturing, as well as receive some great SWAG and enjoy popcorn and purple yam ice cream.
Several regional companies joined Bishop-Wisecarver as sponsors for the 2019 event, including: Cooper, White & Cooper LLP; Heffernan Insurance Brokers; Ramar Foods; SalesMuscle, Sensiba San Filippo; and MUFG Union Bank of Walnut Creek.
One high school student called the event the “Disneyland of Manufacturing” and is now talking about manufacturing as a career option. We call that a success and yes, we are already planning for #MFGDay20!
Until then, enjoy our Top 10 favorite photos from MFGDay19.
